bring awareness to Canada's Movement to Get Smarter About Money
TORONTO, Oct. 27, 2011 /CNW/ - On Thursday, November 3, Investor Education Fund (IEF) (www.GetSmarterAboutMoney.ca) will open trading on Toronto Stock Exchange to mark November as Financial Literacy Month in Canada.
Financial Literacy Month will highlight the immediate need for Canadians to start acting on the financial knowledge they already have to make good, balanced decisions. Helping Canadians apply their know-how of financial concepts to everyday life, IEF - a leading independent authority on financial literacy, education and research - continues to provide the most comprehensive state-of-the-art tools and resources. IEF's 1,500-page website is the largest of its kind in Canada and one of the most extensive financial literacy sources available on the internet.
Financial Literacy Month is put on by the Financial Literacy Action Group (FLAG) in collaboration with the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). The IEF is a founding member of FLAG, which is a coalition of non-profit organizations that have joined together to start financial literacy month. Among the many activities and events being staged all month across the country, IEF launches a national high school assembly tour with Funny Money's James Cunningham.
Media can pick up a feed from the TOC (television operations centre) for all market open ceremonies. The feed is named TSX Transmit 2, produced at the TMX Broadcast Centre and sent live to the TOC.
