Chinese officials to make an unprecedented tour of Toronto's Davies Elevator Corporation

TORONTO, Oct. 19, 2011 /CNW/ - Davies Elevator Corporation is delighted to welcome a delegation of high-ranking government officials from China's Jiangsu Provincial Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau this Friday, October 21 at 10 am for a tour of its elevator safety practices.

The delegation, consisting of directors, deputy directors and a president from various safety inspection units from the Chinese province, approached Davies Elevators for a tour of their safety practices earlier this year. Davies Elevator Corporation has the distinction of being one of only a handful of elevator companies in Canada and the US they approached.

"We hope to teach the Chinese delegation about the strict safety standards for elevator operations in Canada," says Ms. Fortin. The five-member Chinese party will see firsthand North American safety standards of elevator repair. Regulated by the B44 Code, Canada boasts one of the safest records for elevator maintenance in the world—a record of interest to Chinese officials. Toronto-based Davies Elevator Corporation will have the opportunity to show the Chinese officials new regulations—the installation of car-top rails—being phased in to all GTA elevators now through December 2013.
