Statement regarding tragic accident at York University TTC site
TORONTO, Oct. 12, 2011 /CNW/ - "On Tuesday, October 11 at 2:30 pm a construction accident occurred at the construction site of the York University Subway station. As has been reported in the media, this accident tragically took the life of one of our own.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our employee and above all else, our thoughts and condolences are with his family. Our focus also continues to be on supporting all of our employees and their families during this difficult time. During this grieving process, we are doing everything we can to assist our employees and their families who have been affected in any way, by providing counseling and support.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating this accident and we are willing to help all parties involved to ensure a safe workplace for our employees. While the drilling rig involved in the accident was not owned or operated by Anchor Shoring and was engaged by another contractor at the site, our focus continues to be on safety and the safety of our employees. We are committed to the well-being of our employees and are doing everything we can to ensure that their safety remains, above all else, our top priority."
