Dr. Robert Buckman's final Canadian television appearance on TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin, October 13 at 8 pm

TORONTO, Oct. 12, 2011 /CNW/ - TVO's flagship current affairs program The Agenda with Steve Paikin looks at the latest in cancer research in a special pre-recorded discussion and debate with a group of oncology experts, including the late Dr. Robert Buckman in his final Canadian television appearance, Thursday October 13 at 8 pm.

Dr. Buckman, a familiar face at TVO, taped this debate just before boarding a flight to London two weeks ago. He died at the age of 63 on his return flight to Canada on October 9.

The debate will be preceded by a feature interview with Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee an oncologist and cancer researcher at the Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. His experiences became the basis of his Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Emperor of All MaladiesDr. Mukherjee joined Dr. Buckman and other guests in the debate following the interview.

Dr. Buckman, a renowned oncologist and author, worked at TVO as a medical consultant and contributing editor and appeared on several programs including Allan Gregg in Conversation, Your Health, Studio 2, Speaking Out and Living with Cancer; a More 2 Life series and hosted TVO's Vital Signs. TVO also aired Dr. Buckman's shows, The Buckman Treatment and Magic or Medicine.
