BOSTON WILL HAVE BIXI BIKES EARLY JULY!
MONTREAL, April 21 /CNW Telbec/ - The mayor of Boston, Mr. Thomas Menino, announced from the City Hall Plaza earlier today that the City of Boston has selected Public Bike System Company (PBSC) for the supply of their new bike-share system, dubbed "Hubway". The system will be launched in early July.
Following Capital Bikeshare's successful launch last year in the American capital, it is now the City of Boston's turn to adopt the PBSC system and offer a practical and ecological alternative to traditional urban modes of transport.
PBSC will supply the equipment and back-office capabilities for the system which will be composed of 610 bikes and 61 stations. The Company will also provide technical support and customer service via its call center in Montreal. As such, Boston will become the sixth city serviced by PBSC's employees after Montreal, Minneapolis, Washington D.C./Arlington, Toronto and Ottawa/Gatineau.
BIXI's American partner, Alta Bicycle Share, will operate the system. Alta Bicycle Share already operates systems in Washington D.C./Arlington and Melbourne, Australia.
