WAR AMPS NEWS CONFERENCE

10:30 AM, Friday July 8, 2011
Delta Brunswick Hotel (39 King St., Saint John)

SAINT JOHN, NB, July 8, 2011 /CNW/ - Emma Coakley of Saint John and Jack Sturgeon of McLeod Hill share much in common.  Both are five-years-old, missing their right hands and enjoy their favourite activities with the help of artificial limbs and devices provided by The War Amps.

Emma and Jack will show their devices for bike riding, drumming and gymnastics at 10:30 am today (Friday July 8th) in the McAvity Room of the Delta Brunswick Hotel as the opening session of The War Amps 2011 Atlantic Child Amputee (CHAMP) Seminar.

With the theme The Sky's the Limit!, the news conference will also feature other Champs from across the Atlantic provinces demonstrating the artificial limbs and devices they use to overcome their amputations and achieve their goals, including those for swimming, golf and piano.

The seminar, which runs July 8th to 10th, is a life-changing experience for Champs and their parents, and covers everything from raising an amputee child, to dealing with teasing and staring, to seeing the latest developments in artificial limbs.

Media are welcome to attend the sessions, or interviews with the Champs can be arranged at any time.
