CALGARY, June 27, 2011 /CNW/ - Rogers Insurance Ltd. of Calgary has become the largest independent brokerage (with no financial ties to any insurance company) with headquarters in Alberta with the reorganization of its holdings in Mooney Insurance of Red Deer. By way of a share swap, current shareholders of Mooney exchanged their shares for shares in Rogers and Mooney is now a 100% owned subsidiary of Rogers.
Mooney will retain its brand and the local presence in Red Deer with the goal of becoming the dominant brokerage in central Alberta. Chairman of Mooney, Bryan Pobihushchy stated, "This is a great opportunity for our clients and our staff. It will lead to more jobs in Red Deer and more options for our clients." Bryan also stated that all the shareholders and management of Mooney remain fully engaged and will be very active in the new corporate structure.

Lee Rogers, President of Rogers noted that all of Rogers' competitors of size are headquartered or owned by organizations outside of Alberta stated, "We are keeping insurance decisions and jobs in Alberta and western Canada; we are creating home-grown expertise in Calgary, Red Deer and Fort McMurray that better serves Albertans". All of Rogers' competitors of significant size are headquartered or owned by organizations in Toronto, Montreal, Chicago or New York. Dealing with over 90 different insurers and underwriting organizations, Rogers is able to place insurance programs across Canada and around the world, often matching or surpassing the capabilities of its national and international competitors.
Rogers Insurance Ltd. through its operating subsidiaries has more than 200 staff and is unique in Canada in that it is broadly owned by 57 employees and that all employees, including those of Mooney, are eligible to become owners.
