/R E P E A T -- MEDIA ADVISORY - Canada's CAs hosting conference focusing on challenges facing audit committees/

TORONTO, Sept. 7 /CNW/ - A number of timely topics will be addressed at the "6th Annual Conference for Audit Committees" presented by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). The two-day conference runs September 13-14 at the Hilton Toronto hotel.

Topics include:
    -   Risk oversight - the different approaches being used to discharge
        this responsibility
    -   The impact of the changing regulatory environment
    -   The audit committee's role with performance reporting
    -   International Financial Reporting Standards - key issues auditors are
        seeing
    -   Executive compensation and the appropriate involvement of the audit
        committee

Joseph Hallinan, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and author of "Why We Make Mistakes", is the keynote speaker. His presentation will outline how some of the qualities that make us efficient also make us error prone. How these errors can be prevented will be explained.
