ONEXONE and Corporate Canada Collaborate to Send Much-Needed Supplies to Help in Earthquake Relief Efforts in Haiti

Partners In Health: Haiti and other Haitian Relief Organizations to receive and distribute Canadian supplies in Haiti

TORONTO, Jan. 15 /CNW/ - The ONEXONE Foundation today, in collaboration with a consortium of Canadian businesses and organizations including Air Canada, Canadian Tire, Clean4e, The Capital District Health Authority Halifax, Jewish General Hospital Montreal, Judith Irving and Jean Irving, Midland Transportation, PepsiCo Canada, Rogers Communications and The Bay announced they have combined efforts to send a shipment of much-needed provisions from Montreal to Haiti via a dedicated Air Canada relief flight on Saturday, January 16, 2010 to help with disaster relief efforts.

"All the devastation in Haiti can lead us to despair. But the country's challenges are not insurmountable. People can make a difference together," said Frank McKenna, Chair of ONEXONE. "Our collective efforts will help reduce the suffering. That's why we are asking Canadians to help out in any way they see fit. We have an important role to play."

"ONEXONE has ensured much care and attention has been placed on making sure that this first shipment will bring supplies necessary as identified by on-the-ground relief agency, Partners In Health. Through this affiliation we know that these critical supplies are both needed and distributable," said Joelle Adler, Founder of ONEXONE.

These items include:

- Medical supplies: dressings, needles, IVs, IV solution, boxes of
syringes, and bottles of antimicrobial product
    - Blankets, Woods 4-person tents, sleeping bags, flashlights and
        batteries
    - Aquafina water

Air Canada has generously donated cargo space on its Boeing 767-operated relief flight to transport these supplies to relief workers to distribute in Haiti.

The Rogers Family and Rogers Communications has donated $250,000 to be distributed in funds and goods. In addition, Rogers Wireless and Fido are encouraging their customers to assist ONEXONE in helping those in Haiti by donating to Partners In Health: Haiti and other Haitian Relief Organizations. By sending the text message "HELP" to shortcode 1291 customers can donate $5.00 CDN(1) to the Haitian relief efforts. Rogers is working with the ONEXONE Foundation to facilitate 100 per cent of donations in funds and goods to Partners In Health: Haiti and other Haitian relief organizations.

At the request of ONEXONE, Canadian Tire has also agreed to provide additional goods required next week to maximize the impact of monetary donations being raised by the Foundation.
