QUEBEC FEDERATION OF HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATIONS INC. URGES THE QUEBEC GOVERNMENT TO WITHDRAW BILL 103

MONTREAL, Sept. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - QFHSA will present its Brief on Bill 103 to the Parliamentary Committee on September 10th, 2010 at 11h30am.

"Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children."

QFHSA will focus on:

 - Parental Rights in Education, a Historical Perspective
 - Bill 103 - Procedural Impediments Trump Democratic Principles
 - Protection and Promotion of the French Language
 - The Future of the English Language School System in Quebec

We maintain that the few students affected by Bill 103 (less than 1%) do not undermine the status of the French language in Quebec.

A 62.8% decline in school enrolments since 1971 threatens the vitality of English-speaking minority communities.

We strongly urge that the Quebec government take action to widen, not lessen, access to education in English.
