VANCOUVER, Feb. 3 /CNW/ - Assistant Commissioner Bud Mercer, Chief Operating Officer for the V2010 Integrated Security Unit, and John Furlong, CEO for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC), are taking a helicopter tour this afternoon over Vancouver, the Sea to Sky corridor and Whistler to view security preparations at Games venues.
They will be available to media following the tour, with the anticipated arrival of the helicopter at approximately 4:00 pm at Stanley Park.
Media may park at the Totems in Stanley Park, located a 10-minute drive from the Main Media Centre in downtown Vancouver. They are then asked to walk to HMCS Discovery (200 metres) and assemble at the front gate. Media will be escorted inside (in groups of 20) for the media availability.
Please note: Media need to be at the front gate by 3:30 pm. There will be a podium but no sound system. Media who plan on recording are asked to come prepared with appropriate sound equipment.
