MTS phone service restored in Gods Lake Narrows, Waasagomach, St. Theresa Point and Garden Hill
Stock Symbol: MBT
WINNIPEG, Sept. 3 /CNW/ - MTS is pleased to report that MTS phone service has been restored in Gods Lake Narrows, Waasagomach, St. Theresa Point and Garden Hill.
Equipment at MTS's communications site at Gods Lake Narrows was severely damaged after being hit by lightning during a thunderstorm on Friday, August 27. While service had been restored for short periods of time since the lightning strike, most customers in these communities were unable to make local and long distance calls. Other MTS telecommunications services, such as Internet, wireless and FleetNet 800™, were not affected and continued to operate as they did prior to the storm.
MTS technicians have been working around the clock to have service restored as quickly as possible. As of today, service was restored to the affected communities, however technicians will continue to work to ensure that all damaged equipment is replaced over the coming days. These continuing efforts may result in some further service interruptions before the replacement of the damaged equipment is complete.
