Latest vote buying attempt ignores four wasted years
TORONTO, Sept. 3 /CNW/ - The timing is suspicious.
On a Labour Day holiday, in the dying days of Dalton McGuinty's
government, Dalton McGuinty wants to buy your vote with a ninth statutory
holiday.
But if Dalton McGuinty is so committed to a new holiday why didn't he act
four years ago?
On December 11, 2003, a private members bill, introduced by a member of
Dalton McGuinty's own caucus, was passed at Second Reading by the Ontario
Legislature.
The bill was referred to the Standing Committee on General Government
where Dalton McGuinty let it die - never allowing it to be called for further
consideration.
Dalton McGuinty's 11th hour promise to introduce a new holiday in Ontario
is simply bread-and-circus decision-making. It's just another last minute
promise from a politician who is a record-setting promise breaker.
Ontario deserves leadership - not desperate attempts to cling to power.
