TORONTO, Feb. 7 /CNW Telbec/ - Grey Island Systems International Inc
(TSX-V: GIS) announced today that the City of Indianapolis/Marion County
selected it's wholly owned subsidiary InterFleet Inc. in a competitive RFP
process to provide GPS/AVL for 180 DPW vehicles including Snow Operations and
Waste Management. The initial contract was valued at $790,735.00 US. An
additional 39 vehicles have since been added to include the Traffic, and Water
Fleet valued at $129,695.00 US.
The AVL Systems and Services project is in cooperation with The
Department of Public Works (DPW), the Information Services Agency (ISA) for
the City of Indianapolis and Marion County and InterFleet Inc.
InterFleet(R) is a browser-based vehicle tracking and data collection
system that will allow the City of Indianapolis/Marion County to significantly
improve fleet utilization and operating efficiency. The system includes mobile
data terminals allowing drivers to communicate status changes in real-time and
interfaces with in-vehicle sensors to automatically transmit information to a
central data or dispatch centre.
"This project demonstrates InterFleet Inc.'s ongoing unique ability to
customize hardware, middleware and end-user interfaces to its client's
specific operational requirements," said Chris Jackson, Vice President
Operations and Project Management.
"The sophisticated design of the InterFleet(R) solution allows the
City/County to adapt the system to a broad range of enterprise application
requirements," said Lisa Hunter Vice President, Sales. "The contract allows
DPW to expand the InterFleet(R) solution to include additional divisions, and
ISA the option to extend the solution and associated benefits to other
departments and agencies within the City/County, making the AVL system a truly
enterprise system."
"This technology will streamline our internal operations and processes to
offer effective and efficient service to the citizens of Indianapolis/Marion
County," said DPW Director Kumar Menon.
