MONTREAL, Aug. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The First African Woman Nobel Peace
Laureate and world renowned environmentalist, Dr. Wangari Maathai, will speak
at Concordia University about Sustainable Development, democracy and peace: a
critical link. The speech will be held at the Hall Building (1455 Maisonneuve
W. H-110) on Monday 28th September, 2009 at 16:45.
A press conference will be held outside the CSU office, 1455 de
Maisonneuve (H-711), at 16:15 on the day of the event.
Dr. Maathai is being hosted by the Concordia Student Union as part of our
annual Speaker series. She will be the first Nobel Peace Laureate to speak at
Concordia's H-110.The lecture is free for students at Concordia after which a
reception will be held in her honor. Past speakers have included David Suzuki,
Al Sharpton and Stephen Lewis.
