Edmonton realtor No. 1 in Canada and No. 5 in the world

EDMONTON, March 9 /CNW/ - While 2008 was generally recognized as a tough
financial year in real estate, Edmonton's best known realtor, Terry Paranych,
was last week named the No.5 Re/Max realtor in the world, based on commissions
for sales, and has again been named the company's top salesman in the country
for the number of homes sold.
The awards were announced and presented at Re/Max International's annual
awards conference last week in Las Vegas.
This is the sixth time Paranych has been named the country's top sales
person, but is the highest he has ranked in Re/Max global commissions, which
are based on his sales in excess of $200 million - while he has been in the
top ten on four occasions.
"Residential sales dropped across the Western world last year, but by
focusing on meeting customer needs I sold 667 homes in the greater Edmonton
market, which is only slightly lower than the 691 homes I sold in 2007, when
the market was at its peak" said Paranych.
"I knew my activities had been good last year, despite the economic
downturn, when last month I was awarded the award for the top salesperson in
Western Canada. However, it was even more gratifying to rank so highly against
more than 100,000 of the Re/Max global realtors," he added.
Commenting on what he sees for 2009, Paranych said, "This is an
incredible time to be buying a house as prices have dropped to their lowest
level in years, and buyers have great choices. I have not seen such
opportunities for home buyers in the last 12 years, and based on my activities
so far in this year, it is looking extremely positive."
