Media Advisory - Corporate SCRABBLE(R) Wordsmiths Spell It Out for Literacy

Top corporate executives will compete at Frontier College's
SCRABBLE(R) Corporate Challenge for the coveted TMX CupTORONTO, March 9 /CNW/ - On March 11 at 5:30 p.m., Bay Street's leading
corporations and fiercest wordsmiths will compete at Frontier College's fifth
annual SCRABBLE(R) Corporate Challenge, presented by TMX Group. Top
corporations from the financial, legal, technology and accounting sectors will
challenge their business colleagues to a competitive game of SCRABBLE(R) for
the chance to win the coveted TMX Cup, in support of Frontier College,
Canada's original literacy organization.
This year PricewaterhouseCoopers' Alphabet Soup will defend their TMX Cup
title. Those looking to defeat PricewaterhouseCoopers include former
champions, CNW Group's Newsmakers (2007) and the Scotiabank Nerdiques (2005
and 2006).
Established in 2005, this unique fundraising event was fashioned for
corporations to challenge their business colleagues and gather for an evening
of fun, while supporting literacy. Currently more than 40 per cent of Canadian
adults struggle with low literacy and the SCRABBLE(R) tournament is the
perfect event to raise awareness of low literacy rates in Canada. The event
spells success for Frontier College as it raises funds to improve literacy
rates across Canada.

2009 marks Frontier College's 110th year of helping people improve their
literacy skills to realize their potential and seize the opportunities that
come their way. Literacy is an essential skill in today's world. At Frontier
College we believe it's a fundamental right. Low literacy skills are directly
linked to poverty, poor health and high unemployment. Over forty percent of
adult Canadians have trouble with everyday tasks that involve reading. Working
with partners, Frontier College is at the forefront of community efforts to
strengthen people's literacy skills to build stronger communities.
