ALERT B&C Corporation announces that it will be making an application to postpone the next annual general meeting of shareholders


    CALGARY, May 22 /CNW Telbec/ - ALERT B&C Corporation ("ALERT B&C" or the
"Corporation") (TSX Venture Exchange: ACB) would like to announce that an
application will be made in the Court of Queen's Bench in Calgary, Alberta on
the 1st day of June, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. for an Order postponing the next
annual general meeting ("AGM") of the shareholders of the Corporation to a
date no later than December 31, 2009.
    The management of ALERT B&C is in the process of restructuring and
refinancing the Corporation to position it for success, and intends to include
a review of these efforts at the AGM later in 2009. Further, the management of
ALERT B&C is planning to put forward candidates for additions to the
management team and/or board of directors who, if elected, would strengthen
the Corporation, but the preparatory steps are not expected to be completed by
June 19, 2009 which is the deadline for holding the AGM unless postponed by
court order.
    The directors and management of the Corporation believe that it would be
in the best interest of the ALERT B&C and its shareholders to postpone the AGM
in order to make valuable use of the shareholders time and limited resources
of the Corporation.
    As part of the court application, the Corporation will seek an order
permitting this press release to serve as sufficient notice to the
shareholders of the court application.
