In association with Canadian Music Week, DJ Cosmo is crowned Canada's
most versatile DJTORONTO, March 14 /CNW/ - Among the ten DJs who rocked the house at CiRCA
on Friday, March 13, DJ Cosmo not only impressed judges with his stage
presence, creativity and track selection but played music master to a crowd of
thousands, walking away with a $2,500 prize purse and title of the nations
most versatile DJ.
Second place and third place finishers, DJ Mensa from Toronto and DJ
P-LUV from Vancouver dropped their best sets and made the ultimate party-goers
dance to the beats all night long but it was DJ Cosmo who couldn't be touched
on this night. Cosmo has been working at making a name in the Halifax scene as
a proven party rocker DJ through his unique blend of old school and new
technology. A true lover of vinyl, DJ Cosmo is a crowd pleaser mashing up his
Hip Hop style with classics and electro beats.
Some of the industry's top talent, A-Trak, Neil Armstrong, Team Canada,
Mat The Alien and Jokers of the Scene judged the DJs and evaluated each
performer based on creativity, track selection, skills, stage presence, and
audience response. Ten stops, twenty-eight days and over 7,500 people layed
down some fancy footwork with the 80 DJs performing in the ultimate live party
competition, Red Bull 3Style National Final gathered the top DJ from each stop
with hopes of becoming the most versatile DJ in Canada. The challenge: deliver
15 minutes of sonic infamy that incorporates a minimum of three genres of
music. The constant: the crowd.
While the art of the DJ continues to evolve it remains true to one
objective: rock the party. From Jimmy Seville first dropping the needle at the
Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds in 1943, to Kool Herc breaking the hard funk
in '70s Bronx, to A-Trak moving bodies and Kanye around the world, Red Bull
3Style follows the continuum of beats to feet.
