Leafs, Raptors back corporate rock bands event for kids' charities

Boardroom Superstar hits the stage May 22 in Toronto,
    No bailouts or recession in these high-octane performancesTORONTO, May 6 /CNW/ - Never mind the recession for a night, four
corporate rock bands are plugging in and banging heads in the first Boardroom
Superstar "fun raiser" at The Opera House, 735 Queen Street East, on Friday
May 22.
    Sponsored by the Future Focus Foundation, a charity that raises money for
kids, doors open at 7:30 p.m. and will feature these bands:-   Play to Win from Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment subsidiary MLSE
        Live;
    -   Disorderly Conduct from law firm Ogilvy Renault;
    -   Her Majesty's Royal Morris from IT firm T4G Limited; and
    -   The Porktrashers a medley of musicians from several different Toronto
        companies.Times are tough, but not too tough to help others and celebrate big-time
musical talent around Toronto. All proceeds raised will go to Future Focus,
Leafs Fund for Kids and Raptors Foundation for Kids.
    If music weren't enough to get the Opera House rockin', the Raptor Dance
Pak will bring its own brand of electrifying energy to the evening. Fun is the
key word with raffles and auctions of Leafs, Raptors and Toronto FC
memorabilia, an audience-participation Guitar Hero competition, and maybe a
few guest appearances from local sporting heroes, including former Leaf
captains Daryl Sittler and Wendel Clark. Tickets are only $15 and can be
purchased online or at the door.
    Impresario Stewart Hall (www.rockthestars.com) is stage managing the
event. "This promises to be a fun-filled evening," Hall says. "People will be
pleasantly surprised how much musical talent is buttoned down in corporate
boardrooms and ready to be unleashed on May 22."
