Faculty at Carleton University's Department of Sociology and Anthropology deplore dismissal of Dr. Hassan Diab


    OTTAWA, July 31 /CNW Telbec/ - On Thursday, July 30 an ad-hoc meeting of
22 faculty members from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at
Carleton University met and unanimously passed the following resolution on the
case of Dr. Hassan Diab:
    "This ad hoc meeting of 22 faculty members of the Department of Sociology
and Anthropology held on Thursday 30 July unanimously:(1)  deplores the improper dismissal of Hassan Diab from his contract
         teaching position;

    (2)  calls for the reinstatement of Hassan Diab;

    (3)  deplores the University Administration's violation of the
         University's own procedures; and,

    (4)  declares its support for the actions of Peter Gose, Chair of the
         Department of Sociology and Anthropology, and John Osborne, the Dean
         of the Faculty of Arts and Social Science in assigning teaching
         duties to Hassan Diab."
