Giving Health Care Users NEW Information on Hospital Performance

TORONTO, June 10 /CNW/ - Ontarians deserve to know how their local
hospitals are performing, and that is why the Ontario Hospital Association
(OHA) created myhospitalcare.ca - a website that promotes better public access
to hospital performance information in an easy-to-understand and navigate
format.
Keeping the site up-to-date, the OHA has recently added new indicators to
the site. Like all of the indicators on the site, the data comes from
information that is already publicly available.
The new updates to myhosptialcare.ca include the most recent clostridium
difficile associated disease (CDAD) rates, emergency department wait times,
and four new patient safety indicators: surgical site infection (SSI)
prevention percentages, central line blood stream infection (CLI - BSI) rates,
ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) rates, and hand hygiene compliance
rates.
Since its launch on April 16th, myhospitalcare.ca has been a tremendous
success. Active for just one month, the site has already had more than 112,000
unique views.
myhospitalcare.ca reflects the OHA's commitment to hospital performance
transparency, making public information about hospitals accessible and useful
to prospective and recurring patients and their families.
