TORONTO, Oct. 8 /CNW/ - The responsible ministers for the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund have received letters from 142 cities in every province supporting Metronome's application for $20M from each of the federal and Ontario governments for phase one construction.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Premier Dalton McGuinty, Infrastructure Minister John Baird and Deputy Premier George Smitherman have received 3,200+ letters from members of music industry associations, the construction industry, the Privy Council, the Harbourfront community, Toronto City Council, the architectural community, the media and supporters in 11 countries. Excerpts are posted on the Metronome Canada Facebook Fan Page. Over 2,000 people from every province and 19 countries have become fans.

"This level of nationwide support for a Toronto based initiative is unprecedented," says John Harris, the project's president. "Due to its multiple revenue generating components, Metronome will be the first major cultural institution that requires no ongoing funding from any level of government."

The Stimulus Fund office in Ottawa has indicated an announcement of the successful applicants is expected in late October.

The non-profit foundation is continuing to encourage supporters to write the responsible ministers by going to www.metronomecanada.com and clicking on METRONOME NEEDS YOU!
