Winning Contestant makes her debut appearance at LG Fashion Week,
    March 18, 2009TORONTO, March 19 /CNW/ - Winning Canada's Plus Size Model Search is a
dream come true for Brittney Fisher from Vernon, BC. Chosen from among
thousands of entries and the final top ten contestants, Brittney is the
quintessential model for full figured women across Canada. Proud to be plus;
self-assured and beautiful, this size 16 woman will become an icon and role
model for others who share her passion for plus size fashions.
Brittney's journey to become Canada's Plus Size Model started in
November, 2008, when like many others, she sent in her online application and
two images, hoping to be chosen at least to be one of the top ten contestants.
Brittney's expectations were fulfilled as she made it to the short list of 10
finalists, and Brittney was flown to Montreal on a chilly January day with
other contestants for a photo shoot with celebrated fashion photographer, Max
Abadian, an experience that gave her a real life taste of what the world of
professional modeling is all about. The final step to becoming the winner was
Brittney's journey to Toronto and her acclamation as the winner at a cocktail
party in the VIP Lounge at Canada's premier fashion event, LG Fashion Week in
Toronto.
Brittney wins a one year modeling contract with Montreal-based Specs
Model Management, a top ranked Canadian agency serving prestigious clients
nation-wide for almost 20 years and working in collaboration with some of the
most reputed international modeling agencies, a $2,500 wardrobe from plus size
divisions of Reitmans Fashion Group - Addition Elle, Penningtons and MXM - as
well as a chance to appear in a national advertising campaign, and the
opportunity to be featured in the glossy pages of 'LOULOU for YOU', the
magazine's plus size supplement which focuses on fashion-forward trends
specifically for full figured women.
Brittney will also make personal appearances at upcoming LOULOU Fashion
Parties which kick off on March 31st at the Addition Elle store in Toronto
(Yonge & Temperance) and continue at AE stores in Montreal (St-Bruno) and
Calgary (Market Mall) on April 1st and in Edmonton (South Edmonton Common) on
April 8th.
The panel of judges, which included Kerry Mitchell, President, Addition
Elle and Penningtons, Marie-Josée Trempe, President of Specs Model Management,
Claude Laframboise, Editor-in-Chief, LOULOU Magazine, and photographer, Max
Abadian, had their work cut out for them to choose one finalist from amongst
10 such special women.
"It was a tough decision," said Ms Mitchell. "Our overall mandate was to
select a contestant that constituted the 'best fit' as a model for the company
and someone who would represent and enhance the image of plus size women all
over the country. We felt that each of our top ten contestants had outstanding
individual talents and qualities, but our top-placed finalist, Brittney
Fisher, fitted the criteria exactly and is someone who we think exemplifies
the image that Addition Elle, Penningtons and MXM hoped to find through the
contest."
Specs founder, Marie-Josée Trempe, endorsed Ms Mitchell's comments by
adding: "Brittney has the potential to become a very successful plus size
model. She is photogenic, highly attractive and possesses all the right
attributes and determination to make it to the top. I shall be proud to have
Brittney on the roster at Specs Model Management."
Claude Laframboise, Editor-in-Chief, LOULOU Magazine, added the closing
accolade by saying, "Brittney is fabulous in front of the camera. She is
fresh, exciting and beautiful - all the ingredients LOULOU looks for in a
model. Brittney has a great future ahead of her."/NOTE TO PHOTO EDITORS: A photo accompanying this release is available on
