New Xerox Printers and Multifunction Products: Simple, Affordable, Reliable Technology for Small Business

    TORONTO, May 20 /CNW/ - With today's launch of five printers and
multifunction products, Xerox Canada continues to make it easy and affordable
for small and mid-size businesses to get more work done, even on the tightest
of budgets.
    The new offerings range from the $299 Xerox Phaser(R) 3100MFP
multifunction device, that prints, copies, scans and faxes, to the $2,499
Xerox Phaser 5550 laser printer that speeds printing at a rate of up to 50
pages per minute (ppm). For more features, the new Xerox Phaser 3635MFP
multifunction printer, starting at $2,199, is a 35 ppm networked system that
includes advanced security options like image overwriting, encryption and
authentication tools.
    "Small businesses strive to be as cost-competitive as large enterprises -
a challenge considering most of them need to continually invest in more
expensive technologies in order to grow," said Al Varney, vice president,
Marketing, Xerox Canada. "Xerox's latest offering of monochrome products
allows SMBs to work effectively and economically."
    The new Phaser black-and-white printers and MFPs join the company's
growing stable of products designed with the small and mid-sized business in
mind and play critical roles in Xerox's overall SMB strategy. In addition to a
broader product portfolio, Xerox is expanding its distribution network, making
it easier for the SMB market to benefit from the cost and quality advantages
of doing business with Xerox.
    The company's most notable channel expansion initiatives include last
year's acquisition of Global Imaging Systems Inc., and the planned acquisition
of Veenman B.V., the largest office technology distributor in the Netherlands.
In addition to these distributors, more than 7,000 sales agents and 40,000
technology resellers sell the Xerox brand around the world.

    Reliable, Affordable

    Built on the award-winning Phaser 5500 platform, the Phaser 5550 laser
printer features automated tools for easy installation and service. The
printer comes with PhaserSMART(R), an online troubleshooting tool that helps
diagnose and solve potential printing issues, preventing maintenance calls and
improving reliability. Starting at $2,499, the Phaser 5550 produces
tabloid-sized prints at up to 50 ppm for both single and double-sided pages.
    Xerox combined ease of use, reliability and low-cost to build the Phaser
3100MFP, which starts at $299. The system is Xerox's lowest-priced MFP, with
print speeds of up to 21 ppm and features like scan to e-mail, a full keyboard
fax directory, and Optical Character Recognition software that converts
scanned documents into text-searchable files.
    For the individual user or small workgroup, the Xerox Phaser 3250 laser
printer, starting at $299, is small in size yet rich with features including
automatic two-sided printing and the ability to print up to 30 pages per
minute.
    Rounding out the product launch, the company also announced the Xerox
Phaser 3600 laser printer. Starting at $599, the Phaser 3600 prints up to 40
ppm and includes a standard one-year warranty with the option to extend up to
three years - an offering not typically found on this class of product.
Meeting the needs of workgroups, the Phaser 3600 includes advanced security
features and Xerox's CentreWare(R) Internet Service technology, making the
printer easy to use and maintain.

    Recycling

    The Phaser 3635MFP, Phaser 3100MFP, Phaser 5550, Phaser 3250 and
Phaser 3600 are part of Xerox's Green World Alliance. The Xerox Green World
Alliance is a worldwide initiative to encourage customers large and small to
recycle or dispose of supplies in a manner that minimizes negative
environmental impact. This partnership has resulted in more than 2.7 million
returned cartridges and toner containers in 2006. Xerox processed 1.3 million
pounds of post-consumer waste toner for reuse, and of the plastic bottles
customers used to return waste toner to Xerox - nearly 100,000 - have been
recycled.
