First Toronto bakery to switch to 100 per cent renewable energy also
seeks to cut emissions through increased local sourcing opportunities
TORONTO, June 4 /CNW/ - Producing over 40,000 loaves daily, Toronto's
Stonemill Bakehouse will be announcing a sizeable reduction of its carbon
footprint, using Ontario-sourced renewable energy as well as Ontario-sourced
ingredients, for its all natural, artisan bread and bagels.
To inspire others to follow suit, Gottfried Boehringer, President of
Stonemill Bakehouse, will unveil Stonemill's environmental road map consisting
of eight climate and environmental change solutions and will be putting out a
call to Ontario farmers to participate in organic/alternative farming
partnerships to increase sources for locally grown ingredients.When: Wednesday, June 4, 2008

What: Stonemill's lead nutritionist Dr. Joey Shulman will introduce
Gottfried Boehringer, Stonemill Bakehouse President, who will
reveal his company's environmental road map to becoming a
carbon neutral operation.
