TORONTO, March 12 /CNW/ - CSA International announces an important
consumer safety alert involving "Dynamic" Booster Pack made by WIZ
International of Taipei, Taiwan. The "Dynamic" Booster Pack, which is a
battery pack used for jump-starting vehicles, poses a potential danger from
leakage of electrolyte (acid) and bears a counterfeit (unauthorized)
registered certification trademark belonging to CSA International. Consumers
should stop using the product immediately.
The booster pack has a red, plastic enclosure with an integral carrying
handle with a red and a black clamp-on lead is used for connection to a
vehicle battery. A separate cord set is used to plug the booster pack into a
120V receptacle to charge the battery. A white label on the side of the
enclosure includes a counterfeit CSA certification trademark.
Investigation by CSA International has revealed that the booster pack
does not comply with CSA flame and short circuit tests. CSA International is
not aware of any injury or damage reports involving this product.
WIZ International sold these booster packs only to Canadian Tire who
distributed them throughout Canada. Consumers should discontinue the use of
this product immediately and return them to their nearest Canadian Tire store
for a refund.
