Sharp Electronics expands its line of AQUOS LCD TVs

Sophisticated design and energy-saving function come together with the
introduction of the D65 and D85 series

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 16 /CNW/ - Sharp Electronics, the leading
innovator of LCD technology, is excited to introduce the newest members of its
AQUOS LCD TV family to Canada. The D85 series, featuring Sharp's remarkable
10-bit Advanced Super View panel, and the D65 series, boasting a slim design
and breathtaking picture quality, reinforce Sharp's leadership and innovation
in LCD technology and consumer electronics.
"The AQUOS brand continues to set new standards in technology and with an
outstanding balance between price and performance, these two series are
exceptional additions to our product line," said Andrew Thompson, Marketing
Manager, Consumer Products Division, Sharp Electronics of Canada. "Both the
D65 and D85 series offer a spectacular viewing experience, enhanced energy
saving functions and an advanced range of features to meet the needs of the
most discerning customers."
In addition to their stunning design and high-definition viewing
experience, both new model series reflect Sharp's commitment to the
environment by employing a new energy-saving function. The D65 and D85 are
ENERGY STAR(R) compliant and employ a new "Power Saving Mode," available
through the unit's remote control, to further reduce the energy consumption of
the TV by enabling active contrast and active backlight.
In keeping with Sharp's reputation for providing viewers with an
unparalleled home theatre experience, the new D85 series is based on the
company's next generation proprietary 10-bit Advanced Super View / Black TFT
Panel. The 10-bit panel allows the D85 series AQUOS TVs to display over one
billion colours on screen, making the picture clearer, sharper, and richer
than ever before. Also included in the D85 is Sharp's Fine Motion Enhanced
technology for 120 Hz Frame Rate Conversion and a fast pixel response time of
4ms, providing the ultimate medium for high-definition viewing. Most
televisions display 60 image frames every second, which can lead to motion
blur during action sequences. Sharp AQUOS 120Hz Frame Rate Conversion
Technology improves on this using advanced image processing to create
interpolated frames between each actual frame of video. As a result, the D85
TVs display 120 image frames per second, for stunning picture quality on
fast-moving action scenes. Combined with an incredible pixel response time of
4 ms, the D85 series ensures you'll never miss a thing.
Both the D85 and D65 series models also feature Sharp's Spectral Contrast
Engine UD (Ultra Dark), providing a high dynamic contrast ratio for deep
blacks and crisp picture quality. Viewing angles on both models are an
impressive 176 degrees, making sure every seat in the house is a great one.
With the household TV increasingly becoming the centre of a diverse home
entertainment setup, Sharp has equipped the D85 and D65 models with an array
of connection options for the utmost convenience. By including an
unprecedented five HDMI(TM) inputs (version 1.3 with deep colour) and two
component video inputs, these models are ready for today and tomorrow; capable
of connecting to multiple HD input devices at the same time. Each of these
connections is 1080p compatible and will accept signals from Blu-ray and
advanced gaming devices. With a dedicated PC input, the TVs serve a dual
purpose as a PC monitor and feature an RS-232C input for custom installations.
Additionally, Sharp's AQUOS LINK(TM) allows users to seamlessly control
compatible HDMI-connected products, such as the AQUOS Blu-ray player, using a
single remote.
The AQUOS name has become synonymous with breathtaking design and the D65
and D85 do not disappoint. The former features an elegant and sophisticated
new look with a stunning piano black inner bezel and a matching black outer
frame. The D85 is built into a sleek piano black cabinet with a stylish,
reflective titanium frame, designed to pick up subtle accents from the
surrounding decor. Both are equipped with subtle recessed, bottom-mounted
speakers that don't take away from the overall appearance and while both
models include a table stand, it removes easily for wall mounting
applications.Pricing and availability:
