Meir Statman to provide investment analysis and commentary for advisors
and clientsTORONTO, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - Wellington West Holdings Inc., a privately held,
employee-owned financial services firm, today announced that Meir Statman, the
Glenn Klimek Professor of Finance at the Leavey School of Business at Santa
Clara University in California, has joined the Investment Committee of
Wellington West Capital Inc. Professor Statman's research focuses on
behavioural finance.
Professor Statman is working closely with Sam Pellettieri, Chief
Investment Officer, Wellington West Asset Management Inc., to provide ongoing
investment analysis and education for Wellington West Investment Advisors and
their clients.

In his research, Professor Statman studies how investors and managers
make financial decisions and how these decisions are reflected in financial
markets. Some of the areas he studies include: the cognitive errors, emotions
and aspirations that influence investors; how financial advisors and plan
sponsors serve investors; the nature of risk and regret; how investors form
portfolios; the relative success of tactical asset allocation and strategic
asset allocation; the determining factors of stock returns; the effects of
sentiment; and, the efficacy of socially responsible investments.

Professor Statman's research has been published in The Journal of

Journal, the Journal of Portfolio Management, and many other journals. The
research has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the Research
Foundation of the CFA Institute, and the Investment Management Consultants
Association (IMCA).
In addition, Professor Statman is an Associate Editor of the Journal of
Financial Research and the Journal of Behavioral Finance, a member of the
Editorial Board of the Financial Analysts Journal and the Journal of
Investment Consulting, the Advisory Board of the Journal of Portfolio
Management, the Journal of Wealth Management, and a recipient of a
Batterymarch Fellowship, a William F. Sharpe Best Paper Award, a Bernstein
Fabozzi/Jacobs Levy Outstanding Article Award, the Richard J. Davis Award, the
Moskowitz Prize for best paper on Socially Responsible Investing, and two
Graham and Dodd Awards of Excellence. Professor Statman received his Ph.D.
from Columbia University and his B.A. and M.B.A. from the Hebrew University of
Jerusalem.
