EDMONTON, Dec. 15 /CNW/ - The Alberta Water Council is releasing its
Recommendations for Water Conservation, Efficiency and Productivity Sector
Planning on Tuesday, Dec. 16th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Amber A, the Matrix
Hotel, 10640 - 100 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta.
The report contains recommendations for Alberta's largest users of water
to develop and implement water conservation, efficiency and productivity plans
as a specific action under the province's Water for Life strategy. The sectors
include:- Chemical and petrochemical
- Forestry
- Irrigation
- Mining
- Municipalities
- Oil and gas
- Power generationRepresentatives from the Alberta Water Council and some of the sectors
will be participating in the public release of the report.
Established in 2004, the Alberta Water Council is a multi-stakeholder
partnership with 24 members from governments, industry, and non-government
organizations. Its primary task is to monitor and steward implementation of
the Alberta's Water for Life strategy and to champion the achievement of the
strategy's three outcomes of a safe, secure drinking water supply, healthy
aquatic ecosystems, and reliable, quality water supplies for a sustainable
economy.
