AQUOS HD Netcam Gives Viewers a Sharper Eye on the Game

World's first High Definition Netcam comes to NHL on TSN

TORONTO, March 19 /CNW/ - Sharp Electronics, the leading innovator of LCD
technology, today unveils the first-ever hockey HD Netcam, which can be seen
during tonight's NHL on TSN: NY Rangers @ New Jersey game. The AQUOS HD
Netcam, brought to you by Sharp, is the first HD Netcam ever used in a hockey
broadcast and will be used on TSN throughout the remainder of the regular
season and the Playoffs. Sharp has been a sponsor of TSN's Wednesday Night
Hockey since the start of the 2007-08 season.
"As one of the first advocates of High Definition TV, Sharp is very
excited to be able to offer the world's first HD Netcam to hockey fans," said
Chris Matto, Marketing Manager, Consumer Electronics, Sharp Electronics of
Canada. "With both Sharp and TSN focused on providing the highest quality
viewing experience, upgrading the Netcams to HD was a natural progression."
Never before have hockey fans been able to experience their favourite
game on TV with so much clarity and detail as when watching in High
Definition. The AQUOS HD Netcam, provided by Sharp, puts the viewer in the
heart of the hockey action, giving fans a unique viewpoint from inside the
goal and replays of pivotal moments in the game. Questionable goals are able
to be reviewed more closely than ever, allowing viewers a clear shot of every
aspect of the game. With a 170% growth in flat panel TVs from 2006 to 2007,
Canadians continue to embrace the technology and the advantages High
Definition brings to their home theatre experience.
"The AQUOS HD Netcam is another example of TSN's leadership in the
industry. It's all about giving the fans a better viewing experience," said
Jim Marshall, Executive Producer, TSN. "Our vision is to always push the
envelope with new innovations and different techniques, keeping TSN on the
cutting edge of sports broadcasting."
"With more and more Canadians enjoying HD, Sharp is proud that the AQUOS
HD Netcam will allow fans to take full advantage of what their TVs have to
offer," continued Matto. "High Definition transmission generates images that
have five times the clarity of standard definition, producing a viewing
experience that will be even more immersive and stunning than ever before."
