MILTON, ON, April 30 /CNW/ - Last week a violent and threatening blog
post by an employee of a Fortune 500 company made disturbing statements of
going "on a killing spree" and wanting "to burn this building down". Upon
discovery, RepuTrace(TM) immediately contacted the company and the Federal
Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and within 24 hours, the blog was pulled from
the host website, with copies and postings being saved as evidence by
RepuTrace(TM). The monitoring team had to apply focused effort to find this
link because the author tried to cloak which company they worked for.
"With recent violent and disturbing acts, it is more important than ever
that all organizations are able to identify any potential employee risks,"
said Stephen Anderson, Vice President RepuTrace(TM). "Throughout North America
we are finding examples of employees who are posting violent, disturbing and
potentially dangerous statements about their company, employer or co-workers.
But, you have to know about this behaviour to be able to stop it."
"Using proprietary software and industry best experience, the
RepuTrace(TM) team is able to locate various levels of risk ranging from
internal theft to acts of sabotage to threats of violence similar to those
seen throughout North America in the last year," said Valerie St-Louis,
RepuTrace(TM) Research and Monitoring Manager. "In the case of violent
threats, we can't speculate whether the author would follow through - but
these statements should never be taken lightly as we have learnt in the past."
RepuTrace(TM) - The Corporate Security Intelligence Tool for small to
large businesses monitors internal and external threats on blogs, forums,
message boards, chat rooms, consumer sites, videos and images.
