Grand opening celebration features Canadian singing sensation Kreesha
TurnerTORONTO, Nov. 12 /CNW/ - Fairview Mall, one of Toronto's premier shopping
destinations, today announces the official grand opening of the centre's
newly-renovated retail shopping space. The $90 million dollar renovation
project reflects the ever-changing nature of Fairview's consumer tastes and
the centre's unwavering commitment to enhancing shoppers' overall experience,
and comes just in time for the holiday season.
"We're thrilled to be unveiling the fresh new face of Fairview," said
Kevin Gray, General Manager, Fairview Mall. "This is a facility that has been
re-designed with the needs of the customer in mind. From the skylights to the
floral arrangements, we made our customers the priority every step of the way
and that's something you can sense from the very moment you walk in the
doors."
In celebration of this special occasion, Fairview Mall will host a grand
opening celebration beginning today at 8:00 a.m. Representatives from Fairview
Mall, Cadillac Fairview and Ivanhoe Cambridge are joined by Don Valley East MP
Yasmin Ratansi and Ward 33 Councilor Shelly Carroll for the ribbon cutting
ceremony and a $25,000 cheque presentation to the Canadian Centre for Abuse
Awareness (CCAA). Fairview Mall also debuts the first piece in its Encounters
with Art series this morning. Designed by Canadian installation artist Lyla
Rae, "Kiosk" is a video sculpture that will be on display at Fairview from
Nov. 12, 2008 to Apr. 12, 2009. Popular Canadian R&B and pop singer Kreesha
Turner will also give a special performance later in the day.
The unveiling of the new Fairview Mall comes after months of extensive
renovations which saw the complete refurbishing of common areas to include
contemporary lounge furniture, zen-like fountains, and extensive landscaping
resulting in 230,000 square feet of change. Nothing was overlooked as
developers adopted a holistic view to improve shoppers' experience resulting
in the revamping of everything from mall entrances to a revolving floral
program that rotates more than 300 flowering plants. The centre's new
retailers improve overall merchandising mix and serve Fairview's evolving
clientele.
"In today's hyper-competitive shopping environment, it's important that
we provide our customers with the finest possible shopping experience," added
Gray. "Renovations of these proportions were necessary to ensure that we
continue to attract the kind of top notch tenants to which our customers have
become accustomed."
Buzz around the mall's new format has already attracted new premium
retailers such as Hollister, Aeropostale and an Apple Store. Several other
brand name retailers are scheduled to open in November, including Sport Chek,
Bath & Body Works and a SilverCity Cineplex.
Grand opening celebrations will continue through to November 16, 2008.
