TORONTO, Oct. 3 /CNW/ - The Canadian Chapter of Indian National Overseas
Congress INOC (Canada) strongly denounces and condemns the recent mass
killings of minorities, especially Christians, in Orissa and Karnataka by
Hindu radicals.
Indian National Overseas Congress (Canada) is a part of the Indian
National Overseas Congress (USA), which in turn is a part of Indian National
Congress (INC) - a major political party in India. INC was founded in 1885.
The present Party Chairperson is Sonia Gandhi. INC is presently governing
India in alliance with United Progressive Alliance (UPA). The current Prime
Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh is a senior INC leader.
INOC (Canada) has opened with the mission to promote the secular,
pluralistic and democratic principles enshrined in the Constitution of India;
to encourage NRIs residing in Canada to connect with India; to promote
bilateral relations including trade between India and Canada; to have an
on-going dialogue with Congress leadership on policy matters especially the
ones, which affect the NRIs; to be the resource center for the Indians
residing in Canada; to be the goodwill ambassadors of India in Canada; and to
provide opportunities for friends of India (non NRIs) to get involved in
promoting India.
INOC (Canada) strongly denounces and condemns the recent mass killings of
minorities, especially Christians, in Orissa and Karnataka by Hindu radicals
allegedly the VHP and Sangh Pariwar and BJP. The rights of minorities are
trampled in gross violations of human rights and the entire Christian
community of the world is shocked and dismayed. Founder President of INOC
(Canada) Jay Banerjei has issued a call to action to join so that the voices
of dissension in India can be silenced. He said, "In times of crisis it is the
duty of every Indian to come forward and protect the rights of fellow
citizens." The disgusting violent tactics played allegedly by the saffron
combine to garner more votes is not only loathsome, despicable, contemptible,
and unconstitutional but is also against humanity, peace, love, and harmony.
Every Indian is morally responsible for the killings, the macabre murders, the
inhuman rapes, and the merciless torching of homes perpetrated against
Christians. It is a moral duty of every Indian to join in the call given by
INOC (Canada), so that normalcy and peace can again be restored in Orissa and
Karnataka.
