Thermal Energy Conducting GEM(R) Trial with Large Chinese Paper Co.

Fastest-growing pulp and paper market a prime candidate for steam saving
    system

OTTAWA, July 11 /CNW Telbec/ - Thermal Energy International Inc.
(TSX-V: TMG) (www.thermalenergy.com) is pleased to announce that one of the
largest pulp and paper manufacturers in China is commencing a trial
installation of the GEM(R) Condensate Return System in China.
"China's pulp and paper industry represents an excellent opportunity for
GEM(R) steam traps," said Tim Angus, Thermal Energy President and CEO. "It is
just one of the markets we are targeting under our recent agreement reached
with GEM(R) to market this unique steam saving technology in China, as well as
our other solutions such as the FLU-ACE(R) waste heat recovery systems."
China is the fastest-growing pulp and paper producer in the world.
Production has doubled in the past decade in this steam-intensive industry and
it is now the world's second largest producer with production forecast to
almost double again in the next 10 years. China now accounts for many of the
largest paper making machines in the world. In 2004, there were 88 paper
making enterprises with a capacity of 100,000 tons/yr. in China, increasing to
130 such operations in 2005. That number is expected to rise to 220 by 2010,
with some facilities producing capacities of 400,000 to 700,000 tons/yr.
China represents a multi billion dollar market for condensate return
systems in all industrial sectors and is the fastest growing steam systems
market in the world with high failure rates in many existing traditional steam
systems.
The GEM(R) Condensate Return System is the first major advancement in
steam trap technology in over 100 years. With no moving parts, the traps are
offered with an unprecedented 10-year, no-fail guarantee and offer up to
50% savings in the cost of steam production over traditional steam traps,
through reduced leakage and maintenance.
