BURNABY, BC, April 25 /CNW/ - CUPE BC has engaged trade consultant Ellen
Gould to respond to a press briefing scheduled tomorrow by Economic
Development Minister Colin Hansen on the Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility
Agreement (TILMA) between B.C. and Alberta.
Hansen will be holding a conference call for journalists beginning at
3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Gould will be available for comment from 4 - 6 p.m. to
respond to the Minister's briefing.
Gould wrote a report on the TILMA, released in February by the Canadian
Centre for Policy Alternatives, which compares the legal language of the TILMA
to existing provincial regulations and public enterprises.
Currently on contract with the Harrison School of Public Law at
Georgetown University, Gould has consulted on the potential impacts of trade
for international consumer groups and the Union of BC Municipalities, as well
as doing public consultations on trade agreements for the BC government.
The Hansen press briefing, and Gould's response to it, follow an
emergency resolution passed on April 21 at the annual convention of the BC
School Trustees Association, which called on the provincial government to hold
public hearings on the TILMA and to exempt school districts completely from
its provisions.WHAT: Media availability with Ellen Gould
