EDMONTON, Nov. 17 /CNW/ - Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)
and the Riverdale NetZero Project invite the public and the media to tour the
Riverdale NetZero home today in Edmonton.
This unique house is one of 12 EQuilibrium demonstration homes being
built across Canada. EQuilibrium is a national housing initiative, lead by
CMHC, that brings the private and public sectors together to develop homes
that are healthy to live in and energy efficient. A Net zero energy home is
one that generates all of its own electricity and heat on an annual basis. A
tough challenge in Edmonton`s cold northern climate. This Riverdale house can
be heated by 4 toasters at -32 C.
This house is currently in the construction phase. This tour will allow
visitors to see the solar heating and solar power systems as well as the ultra
efficient wall construction and other leading edge technologies.
