LITTLE TERRORS opens September 12th in select cities across Canada
TORONTO, Aug. 27, 2014 /CNW/ - Mystic Media is pleased to announce that LITTLE TERRORS, a film written and directed by Maninder Chana, will open on September 12th in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Surrey, Calgary and Edmonton. Other cities will follow.
Culled from a number of true-life events, LITTLE TERRORS is a poignant film that follows the fate of a 13-year-old American boy who is recruited by terrorists to bomb a U.S. embassy in Delhi. He is trained in a remote camp in northern Pakistan before being sent to live with a Muslim family just prior to the attack. However, the man harbouring him begins to play a dangerous game when he attempts to convince the boy not to go through with his mission.
The international cast is a fusion of stars and newcomers, including Indian legends Om Puri, Deep Dhillon, and Nirmal Rishi. Canadian Armaan Kabli debuts as 13-year-old Samih.
Using quotes from the Prophet Mohammad to compare the fundamental teachings of Islam to how some will alter dogma for personal gain, the filmmakers emphasize something they see as a universal problem. Chana explains, "I am not Muslim; the producers are not Muslim. While it is a film with an Islamic backdrop, it could be about any person or group that adapts a doctrine to their own needs. This radicalization of youth is happening all over the world."
Maninder Chana is a Canadian filmmaker, author and actor. His credits include Cell 213 (2011), Mystic (2011), and Brown Guys Do (2013). Currently he is in post-production on his latest feature, Scratch, and has a television series optioned with Hollywood talent attached.
LITTLE TERRORS was shot entirely on location in India, was written and directed by Maninder Chana and executive produced by Dev Mangat and Ken Gill.
There will be a special advance screening of LITTLE TERRORS on September 10, 2014 in Brampton, Ontario at SilverCity Brampton. Filmmakers and cast will be in attendance.
