High-flying food truck reaches new heights to celebrate Lansdowne condo completion

"Not your typical rooftop party," says Grill Master Express CEO, Roger Pattison

OTTAWA, Aug. 18, 2014 /CNW/ - Look up! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's . . . a food truck?

On Tuesday, August 19, barbeque specialists from Grill Master Express will be catering a rooftop party for Minto Corporation staff and construction crew to celebrate their completion of the tallest condominium building at the newly redeveloped Lansdowne Park.

"It's not unusual for a builder to host a rooftop party for its workers when a building is complete," says Grill Master's CEO, Roger Pattison. "But this will be taking our catering to a new level."

Because this is the 20th anniversary of Grill Master's barbeque division, Pattison says he thought it would be fun to do something a little—no, a lot—different. So, he approached Minto, a long-time client, and suggested taking Grill Master's specialized catering truck to the rooftop—21 storeys above street level.

"They loved the idea," Pattison says. "So we have arranged for a crane to hoist our 23-foot, 4,000-kilogram food truck more than 200 feet into the air and place it on the roof."

The media and public are invited to bring their cameras and get in on the fun from a good vantage point on the sidewalk, says Pattison. "The lift should be quite the spectacle—no doubt our fingers will be crossed the whole time."
