Canadian Positive Psychology Conference Kicks-Off Today
TORONTO, July 16, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian Positive Psychology Association (CPPA), www.positivepsychologycanada.com, kicks-off the 2nd Canadian Conference on Positive Psychology #CPPA2014 today in Ottawa, Ontario at the Chateau Laurier.
Positive psychology is the scientific study of well-being, happiness and human flourishing. It is the CPPA's mission to have a psychologically healthy Canadian society through the research and application of positive psychology. Over three days, 100 leading positive psychology experts will reveal the latest research and best practices on the science of what makes individuals and communities thrive.
The Canadian Positive Psychology Association President, Louisa Jewell, is thrilled with the caliber of speakers conducting the pre-conference workshops, keynote addresses and concurrent session presenters at the three-day conference. "We have an exciting line-up of subject matter experts in a vast array of areas including academic researchers, coaches, educators, HR and organizational consultants, counselors and psychotherapists."
The CPPA wishes to facilitate collaboration and communication among researchers, practitioners, teachers, and students. It is through this collaboration that we can deliver the rich science of positive psychology into the hands of those who can have a real impact.
Louisa Jewell says "This is important, especially now, because depression is epidemic in Canada. One in four Canadians will suffer a mental illness once in their lifetime. We know that positive psychology based resilience programs can prevent depression and increase psychological well-being. Someone has to be focused on prevention. That is us."
The full conference program can be viewed at www.positivepsychologycanada.com. Registration is available online or at the CPPA Conference registration desk in the Chateau Laurier from today until July 18.
