Launching of the Wikicité 101 interactive platform
Wikicité conference proceedings available on-line
MONTRÉAL, June 17, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) launched the WIKICITÉ 101 pedagogical tool and uploaded the proceedings of WIKICITÉ conference, held in February. With panel presentations and exhibitor displays in Espace Innovation, this event provided an opportunity for reflection on the value-added from bringing public consultation into the digital age, and the resulting opportunities and challenges.
As continuation of these discussions, the OCPM has developed WIKICITÉ 101, http://wikicitemtl.com/, an interactive pedagogical tool, which is a virtual library of digital public consultation, in French, providing access to a great deal of information, as well as transcriptions and audio recordings of the guest presenters at this forum:
- the content and presentation videos of the panelists http://wikicitemtl.com/retour-evenement
- a report on the opportunities and challenges raised during the event http://wikicitemtl.com/page/opportunit%C3%A9s-et-d%C3%A9fis
- definitions of concepts and technical terms http://wikicitemtl.com/lexique
- examples of tools and practices used locally and elsewhere http://wikicitemtl.com/outils-et-pratiques;
- the action measures the OCPM plans to implement http://wikicitemtl.com/page/pistes-daction
In addition to content related to the event, hyperlinks provide quick access to a network of local experts, both companies and local groups (Labs).
In what is a first for the OCPM, inspired by best practices in interactive learning, it is reaching out to people interested in this approach – Internet users can experience gamification and test their knowledge of public consultation.
Wikicité, an event covering citizen participation in the digital age, was held February 27-28, at the Centre des sciences de Montréal. Organized by the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM), in partnership with the Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'environnement (BAPE), Wikicité became an opportunity for dialogue and information-sharing and helped raise the profile of local resources. Invited experts, participants and technological innovators—all contributed to furthering discussion of the use of digital technology in public consultation. This is all now available on the WIKICITÉ 101 platform.
