Appointment of Lucien Bouchard, as Chairman of the Board of Fondation Montréal inc.
MONTREAL, June 11, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Fondation Montréal inc. is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Lucien Bouchard as Chairman of the Fondation's Board of Directors for a three-year term.
Fondation Montréal inc. appointed Mr. Bouchard to succeed Andrew Molson, whose mandate had come to an end, at the last board meeting on June 2.
A partner in Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg since 2001, Lucien Bouchard is a distinguished lawyer in the Corporate and Commercial Law, Litigation, Mergers and Acquisitions, Energy and Mining Law practice groups. Renowned for his brilliant diplomatic and political career, he served as Premier of Quebec from 1996 to 2001 and founded the Bloc Québécois on the federal political scene.
"Mr. Bouchard's active participation in the business world gives him unequalled credibility, and we are very pleased to have someone of his calibre to support the development of youth entrepreneurship in Montreal," noted Liette Lamonde, the Fondation's Executive Director.
"This appointment makes me very happy because I see it as an opportunity to put words into action. Because our entrepreneurs are the source of our collective prosperity, it is essential that the business community mobilize to stimulate creative entrepreneurship. By making start-up grants and providing access to hours of consulting services from committed business volunteers, the Fondation helps creative and innovative young people make the dream of a business plan a tangible reality.
More than ever, the leaders of tomorrow must have support and backing, and that is why I am proud to serve as Chair of Fondation Montréal inc." Mr. Bouchard added, speaking at Rendez-vous Montréal inc. June 10, an event attended by members of the business community.
Mr. Bouchard also praised the work of his predecessor: "Andrew Molson has given the Fondation a new impetus by establishing a strong new identity and creating Fiducie Montréal inc. Supported by these achievements, the Fondation seeks to promote the creation of 200 innovative new Montreal companies over the next five years."
The Fondation team wishes to welcome Mr. Bouchard, and also extends a warm welcome to new members of the Board of Directors: Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montreal, Marie-Josée Gagnon, President and Founder CASACOM, Alan Shepard, President of the Concordia University, and Adam Turner, President, DIVCO.
