Minister Raitt will participate in the International Transport Forum in Leipzig, Germany

Strengthening Canada's engagement with international partners

OTTAWA, May 20, 2014 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Minister of Transport, will attend the 2014 Summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF). This year's event, to be held in Leipzig, Germany, from May 21 to 23, focuses on the theme Transport for a Changing World.

Minister Raitt will address her international counterparts and be a featured participant in the opening plenary session, which will explore global trends and transportation challenges.

The Minister will highlight Canada's approach to transportation policy in the global economy, which includes support for innovation and Canada's Gateways and Corridors strategies.

Minister Raitt will advance Canada's interests on key transportation issues such as infrastructure funding, rail safety and the transportation of dangerous goods, and workforce issues related to the transportation sector during meetings with her international counterparts.
