Canadian Retail Industry honours Bob Peter, President & CEO, LCBO with Lifetime Achievement Award

TORONTO, May 6, 2014 /CNW/ - Retail Council of Canada (RCC) announced today that Bob Peter, President & Chief Executive Officer of LCBO, will be the 2014 recipient of RCC's Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a senior executive with a minimum of 25 consecutive years of retail service who has demonstrated outstanding business success and community service throughout his/her career. Winners are visionaries who have left an indelible mark on the industry through their innovations and commitment to customers and employees. The recipient is recognized as a retail role model, an icon in the industry, and one who has dedicated his/her business life to retail.

About Bob Peter
Bob Peter's career spans over 45 years in Canadian retailing, beginning with the Hudson's Bay Company in Winnipeg. He has held several high-level positions including President of Simpsons, President of The Bay, Chairman of Bay Specialty Stores and Executive Vice-President of the Hudson's Bay Company.

Bob joined the LCBO in 2001 where he is President and Chief Executive Officer, responsible for corporate leadership and providing a forum for consultation and dialogue with the trade on matters affecting the beverage alcohol industry.

Under his leadership the LCBO has consistently increased its operational and financial performance, undertaken an unprecedented expansion of its store network and improved customer service, modernized its logistics facilities and supply chain, positioned itself as a leader in philanthropic endeavours and environmental sustainability, strengthened its record in responsible retailing and corporate social responsibility, and provided effective support for Ontario beverage alcohol suppliers to grow their businesses.

Bob has served as a cabinet member of the United Way of Greater Toronto and as a director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Junior Achievement and the Toronto Zoo.
