Arnold Chan Green Lit As Candidate for Scarborough-Agincourt Federal Liberal Nomination

Arnold is the first Candidate to have been approved by the Liberal Party's Green Light Committee in Scarborough-Agincourt

TORONTO, April 30, 2014 /CNW/ - Lawyer, senior corporate manager, and long time Liberal Party activist, Arnold Chan has been officially green lit by the Liberal Party of Canada for the nomination race in Scarborough-Agincourt.

Arnold is the first candidate to be approved to seek the Liberal nomination in Scarborough-Agincourt, where a by-election will be required following the resignation of Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis.

Biography:

Arnold Chan has deep roots in Scarborough-Agincourt, attending both Henry Kelsey and Sir Ernest MacMillan Senior Public Schools, and later Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate Institute. Arnold pursued postsecondary studies at the University of Toronto, where he earned an undergraduate and a Master's degree in Political Science, and the University of British Columbia, where he earned a law degree.  Later, Arnold obtained his Masters in Urban Planning, also from the University of Toronto, on a part-time basis while raising his family and pursuing his career.

Arnold's career has included roles in both the public and private sectors as a lawyer, political aide and senior corporate manager. He is currently Vice-President, Aboriginal/Corporate Affairs, and General Counsel at a leading Canadian-owned waterpower development company with projects throughout Northern Ontario. Arnold has over thirty years of political experience and has had the pleasure of serving in a number of political roles, from campaign volunteer to senior roles such as Executive Assistant to the Premier of Ontario or as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

As a father of three, Arnold is passionate about youth causes, having served as co-chair of his children's school council, while also leading a local chapter of a national youth organization.
