Four days left to vote for Ontario's worst roads
THORNHILL, ON, April 22, 2014 /CNW/ - With just four days remaining in CAA's annual Worst Roads campaign, Dufferin Street in Toronto will likely earn a spot on the Top 10 list for the eighth year. In 2012 and 2013, Dufferin Street was crowned the worst road in the province.
Currently, six of the roads sitting on the top 10 list are from the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).
This year, over 1,600 different roads across the province have been nominated by drivers, transit users, cyclists and pedestrians for various reasons including congestion, crumbling infrastructure and safety issues for pedestrians and cyclists.
"The harsh winter with its fluctuating freeze-thaw cycle has left many of our roads in dire need of repairs," said Faye Lyons, Government Relations, CAA South Central Ontario. "It's not too late to vote. With days still remaining, Ontarians can help shape CAA's Top 10 list for 2014."
Ontarians can nominate the streets, bridges and highways in their community at www.worstroads.ca until April 25 at 11:59 p.m.
The four-week long campaign began on March 25 and since then, the list has featured roads from right across the province, including: Windsor, London, Hamilton, Toronto, Kingston, Niagara Falls and Ottawa.
Once voting has closed, CAA will compile a list of the Top 10 Worst Roads in the province and make recommendations to the provincial and municipal governments. The list will be revealed later this spring.
