One week left for #CAJ14 early bird rates

OTTAWA, April 19, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian Association of Journalists reminds all those planning to attend the 2014 national conference May 9-10 at the Holiday Inn and Suites Downtown Vancouver that a week remains to take advantage of early bird pricing.

Registration for the conference is open, with early bird rates ending April 25. Our rates heavily favour CAJ members, who can attend the conference and get a ticket to the conference banquet and CAJ Awards gala for $239 plus taxes. That rate and all others increase moderately as of April 25. Full details on registration, including all rates, are available on the CAJ website.

We have a fantastic lineup of keynote speakers, starting Friday with the Bergen Record's Shawn Boburg, who broke the story on the involvement of the governor's office in New Jersey traffic jams. Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn At-in-chut Atleo will speak to delegates midday Friday, with CBC News journalist Mellissa Fung taking the podium on Saturday to speak of her experiences in Afghanistan.

Other workshops and sessions on-hand for the weekend reporting on mental illness, interviewing techniques, data-journalism techniques, ethnic media, court reporting, freedom of information and more . Bookmark the conference program available on the CAJ website as new content will be added as it's confirmed in the coming weeks.

The conference wraps with the annual banquet and awards gala on May 10. A full list of finalists was released on April 7.

The CAJ is Canada's largest national professional organization for journalists from all media, representing over 600 members across the country. The CAJ's primary roles are to provide public-interest advocacy and high-quality professional development for its members. For more information:
