Calgary-based MasterBUILT Hotels Names Chief Operating Officer
CALGARY, April 14, 2014 /CNW/ - MasterBUILT Hotels Ltd. (MBH) is excited to announce the appointment of Eric Watson as Chief Operating Officer of its group of companies effective immediately. As Chief Operating Officer, Eric is responsible for providing the vision, strategy and leadership across all divisions of the company that will establish MasterBUILT Hotels as a leader in entrepreneurial lodging development within Canada. Eric will report directly to the Co-Chairman and principals of the company, Jay Westman and Marc Staniloff.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Operating Officer, Eric was Vice President of Superior Lodging Corp. - a JV partner in MBH - and has played an instrumental role in growing MBH's development and hotel operations groups to the point where they are now and positioning Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham as one of Canada's fastest growing hotel brands. Eric has spent the previous 12 years in the resort and hotel industries in executive leadership roles delivering impressive growth and profitable returns for entrepreneurial companies and investors. MasterBUILT Hotels is a vertically integrated hotel company focused on the development, investment, construction and operation of Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham branded hotels within Canada. The company was founded in April 2011 by Superior Lodging Corp. and Jayman MasterBUILT / JWI Investments - respective leaders in their industry - with the mandate to develop and open 75 Microtel by Wyndham hotels within 25 years. MBH owns the master territorial development rights to Canada for Microtel by Wyndham and works in partnership with Wyndham Hotel Group for the franchising of the brand within the country.
Since September 2012 MBH has opened Microtel hotels in Estevan, SK, Weyburn, SK, Lloydminster, SK, Blackfalds, AB and Timmins, ON. There are presently six (6) Microtels under construction in Red Deer, AB, Whitecourt, AB, Fort St. John, BC, Kitimat, BC, Kirkland Lake, ON and Sault Ste. Marie, ON with plans to commence construction on another ten (10) Microtel hotels within the next twelve (12) months. In addition to Microtel, MBH is currently developing a 225 room dual branded Marriott hotel in Calgary's Seton district that is slated to open in Fall 2015.
