Enforcement Notice Hearing - IN THE MATTER OF Scott Bateman - Discipline Hearing

VANCOUVER, March 24, 2014 /CNW/ - A hearing has been scheduled before a Hearing Panel of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) in the matter of Scott Bateman.

The hearing concerns allegations that Mr. Bateman made unsuitable recommendations regarding the purchase of securities in a client's account.

The hearing is open to the public, unless the Panel orders otherwise. The decision of the Hearing Panel will be made available at www.iiroc.ca

Specifically, the allegation is that:

Between approximately March 2008 and June 2009, Mr. Bateman failed to use due diligence to ensure that the recommendations he made in relation to a client's account were suitable, contrary to IIROC Dealer Member Rule 1300.1(q) (before June 2008 – IDA Regulation 1300.1(q)).



IIROC formally initiated the investigation into Mr. Bateman's conduct in February 2013. The alleged violation occurred while he was a Registered Representative with the Kamloops branch of Raymond James Ltd., an IIROC-regulated firm. Mr. Bateman is no longer a registrant with an IIROC-regulated firm.
