TORONTO, March 5, 2014 /CNW/ - The Canadian Public Relations Society Inc. (CPRS) is pleased to introduce Canada's newest accredited public relations professionals. Fourteen CPRS members from across Canada successfully completed the requirements for becoming accredited members of the Society in 2013. The newly accredited professionals will be recognized in front of industry peers on the first day of the annual Canadian Public Relations Conference in Banff, AB, May 25-27, 2014.

To become accredited and earn the Accredited Public Relations (APR®) designation, a candidate must engage in specialized studies, pass rigorous written and oral examinations, and submit a detailed work sample. To qualify for the accreditation process, a candidate must have earned a solid reputation of integrity and high ethical standards while completing a minimum of five years of full-time employment in public relations and communications management.

"Earning an APR designation is a noteworthy professional achievement," said Nancy Hutton, APR, Presiding Officer of the CPRS National Council on Accreditation. "It demonstrates that the individual is an experienced and knowledgeable public relations practitioner who has met the highest standards within the profession. The accreditation process is both a professional and personal challenge that provides members with an opportunity to display professional excellence and a standard of knowledge. I congratulate all newly accredited members on this accomplishment!"

The APR, the highest global professional standard of excellence in public relations is celebrating 50 years of the credential recognizing professional excellence. Employers and clients hiring public relations practitioners with an APR are getting leaders in public relations that are recognized in and outside of the profession for their knowledge, experience, expertise and ethics.
